I know it's been more than 4 months since my last post and I haven't got much of an excuse aside from that I have just been having writer's block on what to review or write about! I'll be trying to pick back up the pace soon :)
Also - apologies for the poorer quality of photos. My laptop died and I haven't gotten a new one yet, and my standby one doesn't like reading SD cards (on top of that, I need to figure out how to work Photoshop CS since I lost my PSP8 CDs grrr...). This post's photos were taken via my iPhone since I was over at my boyfriend's.

Today I'll be talking about the new MAC pro palette quads. Here is a photo comparison:
Left is the old version with my existing eyeshadow pans (shroom, woodwinked, handwritten and satin taupe), right is the new one. The size is essentially the same, although the new one is slightly thicker.
Old version specs:
*Clasp closure
*Logo is in black
*Clear plastic cover
*Indents for easy pan removal
*Rounded edges
*Bottom of the quad is magnetic (that's what keeps the pans from moving)
New version specs
*More square - sleeker design (at least in my opinon)
*Logo is in white
*Magnetic closure
*Palette insert has magnets to keep in place (old version you have to pry off if you wanted to remove it)
*Glossy black acrylic as opposed to regular black "matte" look in older version
*Insert pops out easier (read on to see how)
I'll be honest, I bought the new one without even knowing that it was different from the old one since it's been over 2 years since I bought my last empty quad. I was a bit miffed as to how I was going to remove the pans from the new one without any grooves or ruining my eyeshadow pans. Then I read online and realized there is a way to pop the insert out easily and remove the pans:
To remove the insert, you have to press down on either the two bottom corners or the two top corners, then your insert will pop out on the opposite side (like above). The little "holes/gaps" you see at the bottom when the insert is empty? Well if you flip it over (even with your pans in, they won't fall our because it's all magnet):
You can just push the pans out! Poke, poke, poke!
And just snap back in place when you're done.
So what do you think of the new quads? I really like the new look, even if it's more time consuming to take the pans out, the look is very sleek!
(My old quad in the new quad!)
I'll probably need to get another quad soon anyways because I've got another MAC order coming in soon from my connection :) I would actually replace all my quads with this one because it looks nicer, but I also like how the "holes" are a fill millimeters higher (prevents fall out, if any, from going everywhere) and the pans are more snug too (less of a gap).
Readers: what are your favourite or go-to MAC eyeshadows? Which pro palette quad do you prefer - old or new?
